NNRA TRAINS STAFF ON REGULATORY AUTHORITY INFORMATION SYSTEMS (RAIS)

The NNRA has commenced a five-day training programme on the Regulatory Authority Information System (RAIS) 3.4 Web to strengthen regulatory officers’ capacity to generate, access, and utilise regulatory data for effective oversight of radioactive sources and related activities.

The training, scheduled for October 12–16, 2026, was declared open by the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Yau Usman Idris, who described the training as an important step towards enhancing the Authority’s institutional capacity and regulatory effectiveness.

Dr. Idris emphasised that effective regulatory oversight depends on accurate, reliable, and accessible data to support informed decision-making, strengthen regulatory control, and ensure compliance with established safety requirements.

The training is expected to enhance the NNRA’s capacity for authorisation, inspection, source monitoring, and tracking, thereby strengthening regulatory control and protecting workers, the public, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
