Mr. Farouq Abdulrasheed Ingawa

General Manager - Radiological Safety

Mr. Farouq Abdulrasheed Ingawa is an indigene of Ingawa Local Government Area in Katsina State. He attended Modoji primary school in Katsina Local Government Area of the State and later proceeded to Government College Katsina. He later attended the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and also a M.Sc. Degree in Radiation Biophysics.

Farouq started his lecturing career with the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, in Katsina and rose to the level of Lecturer I. He later joined the Umaru Musa Yaradua, University, Katsina as the Pioneer Head of the Department of Physics, where he and a few visiting Professors from ABU, Zaria, and BUK established the Physics department. He has over fifteen (15) years of teaching and research experience in the fields of Physics, Nuclear Physics, Radiation Biophysics, and Medical and Radiation Physics.

He joined the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority in the year 2008 as an Assistant Chief Regulatory Officer and was later upgraded to the position of Chief Regulatory Officer. In 2010, he was appointed as the Coordinator of the North–East Zonal Office, Maiduguri, a position he held for almost three (3) years, and due to the incessant security challenges in that zone, he spearheaded the establishment of the North–East Zonal Office, Gombe in December 2012. In 2019, he was transferred to the Headquarters in Abuja as the Deputy General Manager, Radiological Safety Department. He became the first General Manager of the Department of Medical Application Safety in 2022, before assuming the Head of Radiological Department in 2024.

He has been involved in the Drafting, Reviewing, and Production of several NNRA Regulations as well as other Regulations from sister organizations and has represented the Authority in various National and International meetings, Workshops, and Conferences.
