NNRA SOUTH-SOUTH ZONAL OFFICE CLAMPS DOWN ON NON-COMPLIANT FACILITIES

The NNRA, through its South-South Zonal Office, conducted a three-day enforcement exercise tagged “Operation Show Your Licence” in Port Harcourt from 5 to 7 October 2026, covering 43 medical and 12 industrial facilities. The exercise revealed widespread non-compliance, including expired licences and operation without authorisation. Some facilities were sealed, while others were issued compliance directives.

The exercise also uncovered regulatory violations involving an oil service company to an oil exploration and production company, raising concerns about compliance with radiation safety requirements.

The SSZO plans to extend the exercise to Imo and Abia States to strengthen regulatory compliance and protect workers, the public and the environment from the harmful effects of ionising radiation, in line with the NNRA’s statutory mandate.
