NNRA SIGNS MoU WITH ABUCONS

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Service Limited (ABUCONS) on Wednesday 13th October, 2021 at the NNRA Headquarters in Abuja.

The MoU was an outcome of the courtesy visit made by ABUCONS to the DG NNRA in February 2021, where both parties identified the need to foster cooperation in the area of human capacity building through research and training as well as through project developments. The MoU seeks to strengthen cooperation amongst the parties especially in the area of promotion of research and development activities including joint scientific and innovative research projects and radiation shielding calculation.

The DG/CEO NNRA expressed delight on the cooperation and partnership between ABUCONS and NNRA. He remarked that the MoU is a good development for the progress of both organizations and Nigeria at large. He added that the MoU will strengthen the intellectual and technical capabilities of the NNRA in carrying out its mandate.

The Managing Director ABUCONS, Dr. Umar Farouk Yaya appreciated the Management of NNRA for partnering with ABUCONS and affirmed that the partnership is geared towards achieving mutual benefits for both parties. He stated that ABUCONS has a large number of nuclear experts that will render quality services in the interest of the NNRA and Nigeria in general. He reiterated ABUCONS readiness to expand further areas of cooperation between the parties.

The General Manager, Authorization and Enforcement Mr. Adamu M. Hussani, was named by the DG/CEO as the contact person for the coordination of the MoU.
