At the weekly In-house Seminar, the Information Division delivered an engaging presentation on “Powering Public Trust Through Effective Information Dissemination. Mrs. Ekaette Bassey, Deputy General Manager (Information), outlined the Division’s core functions, recent milestones, and strategic direction.
She underscored that public perception remains a critical determinant of regulatory success, especially in a highly technical field like nuclear technology , where misconceptions and misinformation can easily thrive. To bridge this gap, the Division has adopted a more proactive communication approach, strengthened stakeholder advocacy, developed tailored educational content across multiple media platforms, and expanded the Authority’s official publications. Mrs. Bassey also highlighted improvements in digital visibility, noting steady growth across NNRA’s Facebook and Instagram channels.
Among recent achievements, she cited the successful school outreach programme at Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja, where students were introduced to nuclear safety and the peaceful applications of nuclear technology. She also referenced the ongoing coordination of the NNRA’s long-standing Weekly Seminar Series, an important knowledge-sharing initiative established in 2005 by the pioneer DG, Prof S. B. Elegba, with Dr Yau Idris, the present DG as the first Seminar Coordinator.
The presentation was insightful and further deepened participants’ understanding of the vital role the Division plays in strengthening transparency, enhancing public trust, and ensuring effective communication within the NNRA and the public.
