MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES ORGANISED A 2-DAY RETREAT FOR MDAs in ABUJA

DG/CEO Dr. Yau Idris, led the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority’s Management Team’s participation in the Ministerial Retreat of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Themed “Building Synergy for Enhanced Development in the Oil and Gas Sector,” the retreat unfolded from March 26th to 28th, 2024.

The Ministers of State for Petroleum Resources, Oil & Gas, Hon. Heineken Lokpobiri and Ekperikpe Ekpo and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Ambassador Nicolas Agbo anchored the Retreat and stated that the event was convened with the aim to have discussions on how to achieve the targets and mandates set for the Ministry of Petroleum Resources by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Ministerial retreat held in November, 2023.

During his presentation, DG/CEO Dr. Yau Idris underscored the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority’s pivotal role in ensuring safety and environmental protection in the oil and gas industry, particularly from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. He pledged to enhance stakeholder engagement and synergy to foster compliance and create an investment-friendly regulatory environment.

The retreat concluded with notable achievements, serving as a platform for brainstorming, deliberating, and aligning the goals and visions of various Agencies with contemporary ideas. Discussions encompassed crucial areas such as implementing Presidential Directives on the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) Governance and Supervision, enhancing collaboration and synergy among Ministry and Agency stakeholders, and instituting a Performance Management System, among others.

With renewed commitment and shared vision, stakeholders are poised to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and propel the industry to greater heights.
