NNRA REPOSITIONS FOR EFFECTIVE NUCLEAR, RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION REGULATION

Members of staff of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, NNRA, have been advised to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the Authority to constantly re-position to face the challenges of effective nuclear and radiological protection regulation in the country. This was the advice of the Director-General, Professor Shamsideen Elegba, at the formal induction ceremony of staff newly recruited to fill the existing vacancies in the Authority. He said the task before the new members of staff is enormous as they will be part of the first generation of Nigerians to license the proposed Nuclear Power Plants, NPPs, for electricity generation in the country. He said it also behoves on them to ensure that the NPPs are deployed safely and assure the public of their safety. He formally welcomed the new members of staff to the NNRA family and likened their formal induction to an orientation course or matriculation ceremony for intakes into a university. This is important, he said, to acquaint them with the NNRA procedures and get the best out of them.
