The Director General of NNRA or his designee will provide recommendations developed by the NNRA directly to the National Co-ordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency.
(b) While bringing a nuclear or radiological emergency under control and, later, while carrying out oversight responsibilities, local, state and national authorities will need advice on a variety of environmental, food and health matters. The NNRA is the vehicle by which the expertise from various governmental agencies can develop
co-ordinated recommendations and advice.
(c) provide advice to licensees, as necessary, on additional steps to be taken to mitigate the consequences of the accident and avoid harm to the public ,property and the environment.
(d) In all nuclear and radiological emergencies, the NNRA will perform radiological monitoring and analyses and will serve as the co-ordinator for any governmental radiological monitoring and assessment assistance. The NNRA maintains radiological resources, which are available for emergency deployment and which can be used to support the Ministry of the Environment.
(e) Act as Lead Technical Agency (LTA) in the areas specified in this plan , information dissemination and advise NEMA and the public; and
(f) The NNRA is also the Point of Contact for Assistance Convention (Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency, IAEA-INFCIRC/336, IAEA, Vienna (1986)). |
